Good Fit

Daryl Peterson is a very creative person who hasn't always been sure how he fits in. It isn’t always easy for him to know if his classical musical training or his inventive ideas for teaching children would be valued or useful.

When his former church stopped using an orchestra in worship, opting to only use drums and guitars, Daryl looked for another church where he might be a better fit. He prefers a traditional worship style with hymns, choral, and instrumental music. He wanted a place where he could be involved in serving.

The first week Daryl attended Easter, the recorder ensemble played Christmas music. Daryl, who plays recorder, was immediately hooked. During that first Christmas season, he enjoyed beautiful music by the choir, instrumentalists, and handbells. Daryl soon introduced himself to Ben Kornelis, Easter's music director, and offered his availability to play for special music.

Daryl feels Easter is his good fit. He uses his talents to serve. He plays oboe, recorder, and mandolin for special music. Also, in the fall of 2022, he responded to the call for Jesus and Me leaders and volunteered to help lead the 4th and 5th grade class. He has fun designing skits and

craft projects for his students and wants to inspire them to seek God's design for their lives, using their talents and abilities.

Daryl is so thankful he found a good faith community here at Easter. It is a place where members participate in choir and other ensembles to provide beautiful music that reflects God's nature and helps open hearts in worship. “This is a place where I fit in,” Daryl shared. “A place where creativity is valued and is used by God in His work in this church and the surrounding community.”

Your generosity to Easter allows us to offer a strong music program that helps our community members share their gifts to the glory of God. Thank you for making it possible for us to provide good fits for those who seek to share.
