YOUTHWORKS TRIPS: Cortez, CO Dates: June 26–July 4, 2010 Estimated Cost: $500-600, Grades 9 – 12 Spots available: FULL; NEED ADULT LEADERS Experience the adventure and fascinating heritage of Mesa Verde Country in Cortez, Colorado. The spectacular mountains, mesas and canyons offer outdoor recreation and vast archaeological treasures. As you immerse yourself in the culture of this region, your group also will have the opportunity to help those residents who struggle with poverty through a variety of work projects. Groups will also show Jesus’ love by facilitating a Kids Club.
Martin, SD Dates: July 11–July 17, 2010 Estimated Cost: $500-600, Grades 8 – 12 Spots available for one student; NEED ADULT LEADERS Surrounded by the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Sioux Indian reservations, the town of Martin, South Dakota offers unique access to the Lakota culture. There also are plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors by hunting and fishing, or taking advantage of local golf courses, bike paths and athletic fields. Just like the reservations it borders, however, the town struggles with poverty and the sometimes-tense relations between ethnic groups. Your group will shine the light of Christ in this community through home improvement projects and by serving the local children and elderly residents.
New Orleans, LA Dates: July 30-August 8, 2010 Estimated Cost: $500-600, Grades 9 – 12 Spots available: FULL The city of New Orleans is a vibrant city that boasts some of the greatest entertainment and finest cuisine in the world. Residents welcome tourists to the city with hospitality and flair. But in 2005, Hurricane Katrina swept through New Orleans with devastating results. Eighty percent of the city flooded—much of it completely destroyed—leaving thousands of people homeless. Your group has a unique opportunity to partner with local ministries in their amazing recovery efforts. You’ll help wherever you are needed most, through work projects, children’s ministry and more. Observe the many ways God is at work with our partner congregation in Guatemala and Share our stories of God’s work at Easter. Urban Immersion Trip, South Minneapolis, MN Dates: August 10–August 12, 2010 Estimated Cost: $200, Grades 8 – 12 Spots available for students; NEED ADULT LEADERS Urban Immersion 3-day: Have you ever wondered what it is like to live in the inner city? If so, the Urban Immersion Experience is a cost effective way to learn about the city and make a practical difference. Learn about and observe the religious and cultural diversity that exists in this urban community. Your group will make a difference through service projects designed to help you have a positive impact in the city.
